All About Suz’s Composing and Songwriting

Suz has composed songs for musicals, for dozens of albums, and for production use worldwide for a variety of clients. She is known for her on-the-spot songwriting, in which she creates complete songs in the moment based on audience suggestions.

Successful TAXI Members (L to R): Matt Hirt, Suz Doyle, Dean Krippaehne, Chuch Schiacter, Ed Hartman, Martin Haene, Vikki Fiawith, Dave Walton, Barry French, and John Mazzel. TAXI president, Michael Laskow interviews Tracey Marino.

A multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, ukulele, bass, mandolin, cello, charango), Suz has performed in choirs since childhood, and in a diverse array of bands, playing  tunes from the Great American Songbook, novelty songs from the early 1900s, torch songs, and music from multiple eras and styles. This informed her ear for melody and harmony, and gave her extensive experience in popular music from the 1800s on.

In essence, Suz is a multi-era genre-juggling composer specializing in musical styles that include: Quirky, children’s, comedy, genre/ style/ era parodies (e.g. film noir, game show themes, classic TV and news themes) smooth jazz, new age, gospel, broadway, big band standards, meditation/ relaxation, and reflective hospice music.
